Feminists for Life Honorary Chair and Two-Time Emmy Winner Patricia Heaton Urges Support for Prop 73 to "Protect Our Daughters"
As a parent, I can't think of anything more important than the welfare
of our children. Proposition 73 will ensure that parents can help their
young daughters if they become pregnant.
Those of us in California are all too aware of horror stories of sexual
predators: older men who prey on our children. It is our responsibility
to stop deviants like these who would pressure a young girl into a
serious medical procedure in order to cover up crimes like statutory
rape.
Girls deserve better. Prop 73 puts sexual predators on notice.
Parents—and the authorities—will be informed so we can help our
daughters.
If passed, Prop 73 will prevent an abortion from being performed on a
minor girl until 48 hours after her parent or guardian is informed.
There is a judicial bypass option if a girl fears violence from her
parents.
Prop 73 will mean that parents who have their daughter's best interests
at heart, and who know her medical history better than anyone else,
will be involved in critical health care decisions for her. Sexual
predators will no longer be able to hide and continue their crimes. And
parents will not lose their daughters to abortion complications. No
parent should have to experience what Holly Patterson's father went
through when she died suddenly after taking RU-486 for a chemical
abortion he knew nothing about.
Whether pro-choice or pro-life, all of us can agree that when it comes
to medical decisions our daughters deserve our protection, care and
respect. The best way you can demonstrate your support for girls and
send a clear message to sexual predators is to join me on November 8 in
voting "yes" on Prop 73 to Protect Our Daughters.
